Model Sorry

Try to humbly notice when you’ve made a parenting mistake, anytime you just weren’t the example you wanted to be. Take that opportunity to model how to apologize. A simple apology goes a long way. You don’t need much explanation at all, just what you’re sorry for and why. Try to hold eye contact while you do it.

IE: “I’m sorry I raised my voice. I didn’t like how that felt and wish I hadn’t done that.” That’s it. Keep it super simple. And do it more often.
