Resistance

When your child resists what they have to do or what you’re saying, pause and don’t react right way.

Ground yourself and remember, meeting resistance with more resistance often further separates us. It’s not an emergency, it’s just a moment in time.

When you’re ready, reply with understanding. You can maintain your boundary, or your ask, while validating them at the same time.

You don't have to fight it. You can accept their opinion, even assure them that you believe them and then reassure them that you’ll get through it together.

This leads to connection, versus separation.
