Step Off The Pedestal
You don’t need to pretend you have everything figured out as a parent. Because, the truth is, we don’t, do we? So, I say - step off the pedestal and be human with your kids.
This doesn’t make them feel unsafe. It’s actually liberating. They then know they’re not alone.
You’re normalizing that you’re still learning, too. That learning is a life-long project. That we’re all humans, mistakes are a part of life and we’re on a shared journey of learning and growing together.
This baseline understanding makes space for so much more communication and collaboration. Two key components of conscious parenting.
It creates a home environment where questions are encouraged, and where challenging each other as appropriate is accepted. It establishes that we’re all humans in this together, and therefore we all respect where each of us is in life.
