Pass Down Wisdom, Not Words
Children naturally take us into our wounds (that’s part of their job) and often, we then blame them. It becomes about them and not us.
Instead, when you demonstrate behavior you’re not wanting to pass down (react), it’s up to you to do the work THEN. To own it. To not pretend everything is okay, and you have it all figured out.
Name the mistake and share with them your process, your feelings and how you’re working on growing.
In other words, don’t hide your work. DO your own work so they don’t have to.
