Emotional Regulation

If we want our children to be able to emotionally regulate themselves, we’ve got stop expecting they already know how. They don’t.

It’s up to us to teach them.

And like with anything we want our children to learn, we teach them by showing them what to do and how to do it. They’re watching and absorbing, all the time.

Remember - YOU are their biggest role model.

This begs the question - how do you manage your emotions?

Take a look, with compassion of course, at what triggers or upsets you, and how you handle your anger, frustration and surprise.

When it comes to guiding our children toward healthy self-regulation, this is where we must begin.

We lead the way, after all.
