Sportsmanship

When you watch your kiddos play sports, instead of focusing on their ‘performance’ or skill level, instead try to focus their mind on being the best team player they can be.
Their coach will work on skills with them. Practice will no doubt help. It’s on us to also help kiddos understand the importance of attitude, supporting each other and keeping moral up when it’s down.
Being that teammate.
Talk to your kiddos about the power they have to bring out the best in each other. Everyone appreciates and plays better with words of encouragement. Challenge them to talk this way,
“Hey, I know we’re down a point, but we can do this, you guys!”
A big part of the impact they’ll have on the game is how they talk, how they lead and the energy they put out.
This also takes the pressure off kids to have it be all about their ‘performance’. What they do have control over is showing up with and contributing a super positive attitude.
