Emotional Vocabulary

Be sure to expose your children to lots of different emotion words from a young age, modeling for them the complexity of feelings and what a wide spectrum of emotions exists!

There aren’t just the basic three - mad, sad, and glad - but so many more. There’s jealous, giddy, unsure, paranoid, anxious, ecstatic, blue, wild, serene … the list goes on and on. It’s endless, really.

Teach your children emotional literacy so they have access to lots of words, and a rich emotional vocabulary with which to express themselves, when they’re ready.
