Assumptions

Be aware of your assumptions. They’re typically quite unconscious.

Do you quickly assume your child is trying to pull a fast one or attempting to trick you? Do you assume they’re being sneaky? Or do you give them the benefit of the doubt?

Often times we hark back to when we were young and project onto our kiddos our old selves and stories, when so often this is not the case, and not what is happening with them, today.

Check your assumptions; it’s only fair.

With a generosity of spirit and a real commitment to presence, assume the best and be curious to learn your child’s perspective and intentions. You may find you’re often surprised, touched or humbled by just how pure they are.
