Reading Together

Reading together with your kiddos is a gift for the whole family. Spending quality time in and around books instills in them a love for stories, language and learning. When you sit with your child and read, you're not only sharing an experience but also a value, a joy and a chance to be together with your nervous systems quiet.

Be sure to pause a lot, and not rush through. Ask questions you’re wondering as you read aloud. Allow them to make connections, share their predictions and ask questions as well. This honors their voice while also teaches them the habits of good readers.

Make a special time of day when you curl up to read together. Have a chapter book going with them and:or read picture books. Read together with your children for as long as you can - they’re never too old to share in a book!
